However, from a parent's perspective, these are 'top shelf' books. They deal with the kind of visceral, psychological horror that stays with you. It's great literature for the genre, but keep it far away from the kids' nightstands. This isn't a 'fun' mystery; it's a deep dive into the architecture of trauma.
