Uno is the card game equivalent of vanilla ice cream—everyone knows it, most people like it, and it gets the job done without much fuss. It's genuinely great for young kids learning how games work, and it's one of those rare games that plays well with 2 people or 10.

That said, let's be honest: it's not deep. The BGG rating of 5.5 tells you what serious board gamers think—it's fine, but there are way better options. If your family has graduated to games like Sushi Go, Ticket to Ride, or even Exploding Kittens, Uno will feel pretty flat.

But as a starter game, a travel game, or something to pull out when you need 15 minutes of entertainment? It works. Just don't expect anyone to remember the game the next day.
