Roblox Studio is genuinely impressive as a free game development platform—it's teaching millions of kids real coding and design skills that could translate into actual careers. If your kid is the type who wants to understand how things work and not just play them, this is gold.
But (and it's a big but), Studio doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's the gateway drug to the entire Roblox ecosystem with all its Robux-fueled commerce, variable content moderation, and social dynamics. You can't just hand a kid Studio and walk away—you need to be involved, set boundaries around spending, monitor what they're publishing and who they're interacting with, and help them stay focused on the learning rather than getting sucked into the commercial hamster wheel.
The WISE score reflects this tension: incredible imaginative and educational potential, but real safety and wholesome concerns that require active parenting. If you're willing to engage, this can be transformative. If you're looking for set-it-and-forget-it, look elsewhere.
