If your kid is a Hunger Games completionist, they’ve probably already seen this. It’s the 'Joker' of the franchise—a dark, well-acted character study that doesn't pull its punches. It’s a bit of a marathon at over two and a half hours, but it’s a smart movie that assumes the audience can handle a protagonist who is slowly becoming a monster.
Don't expect the triumphant 'rebellion' vibes of the Katniss era. This is a tragedy, plain and simple. It’s enriching because it asks big questions about why societies choose order over freedom, but it’s definitely not a 'feel-good' family movie night pick.
