Peacock is what happens when a legacy media company tries to compete with Netflix and Disney+ but can't decide what it wants to be. The result? A streaming service that's fine for adults who want Sunday Night Football and Real Housewives drama, but pretty meh for families.
The Kids Mode exists, which is something, but parents on Reddit are not impressed—the content is thin, and the platform's DNA is adult entertainment. You're getting Dateline true crime channels, reality TV, and news programming front and center. Even with Kids Mode on, the interface and promotional content skew mature.
If you're already subscribing for sports or The Office reruns, sure, let your kids browse the Kids section. But if you're looking for a family streaming service? Disney+, Netflix, or even Apple TV+ are better bets. Peacock is the streaming equivalent of a participation trophy—it's there, it technically works, but nobody's excited about it.
