The 2012 TMNT series is a solid, entertaining action cartoon that hits the sweet spot for elementary-aged kids who want excitement without anything truly scary or inappropriate. It's not going to win awards for depth or life lessons, but it delivers what it promises: four ninja turtles fighting bad guys, eating pizza, and cracking jokes.
The brotherhood dynamic is genuinely nice, and kids do pick up on themes of loyalty and teamwork even if they're delivered between roundhouse kicks. The action is frequent and weapon-heavy, so this isn't for the sensitive crowd or parents trying to minimize screen violence.
It's dated enough (2012 animation style, some cultural references) that it's not cutting-edge, but it's not unwatchable either—kids today still enjoy it. If your kid is into action cartoons and you're okay with cartoon ninja combat, this is a reasonable choice. Just know you'll be hearing "Cowabunga!" and pizza requests for weeks.
