This isn't a 'and then he wrote this hit' Wikipedia entry. It’s a surreal, R-rated musical where people literally float when the music gets good. It’s honest about the addiction and the family trauma, which makes the redemption arc actually mean something.
If you're looking for a sanitized version of music history, look elsewhere. This movie is loud, messy, and glittery, exactly like the man it's about. It's one of the few biopics that feels like it has a soul instead of a marketing plan.
