Planes, tanks and guns, all from content packs
Flan's Mod is one of the oldest big Minecraft mods. Its creator, FlansGames, started it in 2011, and it grew into a system for loading community content packs: realistic WW2 guns, tanks and planes, modern weapons, racecars, emergency vehicles, even jumbo jets. The mod adds the machinery, and the packs supply the things.
In the classic version, vehicles have passenger seats and gun turrets, so a group of friends can fly one bomber together. You can build mechas, and the multiplayer side adds Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag with custom loadouts.
There are two Flan's Mods now
Flan's Mod: Legacy is the classic version. Its last update came in April 2021, for Minecraft 1.12.2, and it is where the planes and tanks live.
Flan's Mod: Reloaded is a rewrite for Minecraft 1.19.3 and newer. It handles guns, magazines, scopes and attachments, NPCs and workbenches. Vehicles, armor and team game modes are listed as coming. It also ships with no content of its own, so a kid installs Reloaded plus at least one pack. Packs built for the old version do not work in it.
There is also a community-made continuation, Flan's Mod Ultimate 2, that some packs target for Minecraft 1.20.1. Check which base mod a pack needs before downloading it.
The Star Wars pack is mostly blasters
The best-known Star Wars pack for it is Wolff's Star Wars Pack, a fan project with Star Wars-style blasters, clone trooper armor and gear, available for Minecraft 1.7.10, 1.12.2 and 1.20.1. A kid hoping for X-wings and planets will find more of that in Parzi's Star Wars Mod, which builds the galaxy itself.
Setting it up
Everything runs on Minecraft: Java Edition on a computer, through Minecraft Forge, at the exact Minecraft version the mod targets. Get the mod and packs from CurseForge or flansmod.com. Search results for "Flan's Mod" also turn up phone apps and mirror sites with ad-link downloads that have nothing to do with the real mod.
The Star Wars Minecraft mods guide compares it with the other Star Wars options.
