Chip and Potato is the TV equivalent of plain oatmeal—warm, safe, and utterly inoffensive, but not exactly exciting. It does what it sets out to do: provide gentle companionship for toddlers facing big preschool feelings. The secret-friend premise is mildly charming but also a bit odd (why can't anyone know about Potato?), and some parents reasonably worry it sends mixed messages about honesty.
That said, if you need 20 minutes of calm, non-stimulating screen time for a sensitive 3-year-old, this fits the bill. Just don't expect to be entertained yourself—this is firmly in the 'background noise while you fold laundry' category. It's fine. It's fine!
