Let's be crystal clear: Atlanta is not a family show, not a teen show, and definitely not something you're evaluating for your middle schooler. This is sophisticated, often uncomfortable adult television that happens to be set in the music world.
That said, it's genuinely brilliant—Donald Glover created something wildly original that uses surrealism and dark comedy to explore race, poverty, ambition, and modern American life in ways that are both entertaining and thought-provoking. If you're a parent looking for something to watch after the kids are in bed, this is excellent television.
The WISE score is low because this platform is about helping parents find content FOR their kids, and Atlanta is emphatically not that. It's enriching and imaginative for adults, but unsafe and inappropriate for young viewers. File this under "great art that lives in a completely different category from family entertainment."
