X is the Wild West of the 2026 internet. It’s a powerful tool for journalists and junkies of all stripes, but it’s a disaster for kids. Unlike other platforms that at least try to build a 'kids' version or robust filters, X has leaned into being an 'everything app' for adults, which includes unmoderated speech and explicit media.
If your teen is using it for a specific interest—like following NASA or a specific sports team—they need to be old enough to handle the inevitable 'slop' that the algorithm will slide into their feed. For anyone under 16, there are zero reasons to be here and about a thousand reasons to stay away.
