Let's be crystal clear: this is NOT a movie for kids or even most teens, despite having Harley Quinn and the superhero label. The Suicide Squad is an extremely violent, profane, darkly comedic action film that earns its R rating in the first ten minutes and never looks back.
That said, for adults? It's actually pretty great. James Gunn brings genuine creativity and wit to the superhero genre, delivering bizarre characters (a talking shark! Polka-Dot Man!), inventive action, and sharp satire about government manipulation. The 90% critic score isn't a fluke—this is well-made entertainment that knows exactly what it wants to be.
The WISE score is low because this is categorically unsafe for younger viewers and offers minimal developmental value. But if you're 17+ and into dark superhero fare, this delivers solid entertainment. Just don't let your 13-year-old watch it because "it's DC characters"—the body count and gore level are genuinely shocking, even by modern standards.
Parents: keep this one for your own movie night. Your teens will survive waiting a few years.
