Taylor Sheridan swaps cowboy hat soap opera for high-stakes emotional trauma in The Madison. Starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, the series follows an affluent New York family uprooting their lives to rural Montana after a horrific plane crash wipes out their core foundation. It is atmospheric and well-acted, but it moves at a heavy, deliberate crawl.
If your older teen is curious about Sheridan's broader television ecosystem, this is a much quieter, grief-focused character piece than the action-heavy gun slinging of Yellowstone. Still, the TV-MA rating is earned through relentless swearing, heavy drinking, bar fights, and explicit conversations about suicide and sudden death.
Keep this one for adults or mature high schoolers who enjoy prestige family sagas. Younger kids will find the slow conversations tedious, and the heavy emotional weight isn't built for middle schoolers.
