Star Wars: Hunters is exactly what you'd expect from a free-to-play mobile arena game: quick fun that quickly reveals its true purpose—getting you to open your wallet. The gameplay is competent but generic, borrowing heavily from Overwatch and other hero shooters without adding much new.
The real issue is the monetization. This is a game designed to attract younger Star Wars fans, then funnel them toward loot boxes and cosmetic purchases. The ESRB's specific callout of 'random items' is telling. Plugged In's review confirms the constant 'buy me' offers.
If your kid can genuinely play this without spending money and without getting frustrated by the grind or the competitive mismatches, fine. But most can't. The mediocre IGDB score (69.8) suggests even gamers find it underwhelming. There are better ways to experience Star Wars and better multiplayer games that respect players' time and money.
