Scream 3 is the weird middle child of the franchise. It’s campy, the hair choices are questionable (looking at you, Courteney Cox), and the horror is dialed back in favor of a Hollywood mystery. It’s not 'great' cinema, but for a family movie night with older teens, it’s a fun, self-aware ride.
It lacks the genuine terror of the original, but it makes up for it with a meta-narrative that’s actually pretty smart about how trilogies usually fail. If you’re doing a franchise marathon, you can’t skip it, but don’t expect it to haunt your dreams.
