Prime Video is like handing your kid the keys to a library that contains both "Sesame Street" and "Saw." The content potential is genuinely great—there are fantastic shows, movies, and documentaries here that can entertain and enrich your family. But the app itself does almost nothing to guide kids toward appropriate content unless you set it up correctly.
The Kids Profile feature is solid when enabled, restricting to age 12-and-under content and requiring a PIN to exit. But it's not default, and many parents don't know it exists. Without it, your 7-year-old can browse straight into horror movies or explicit content.
Bottom line: Prime Video can be a valuable family tool, but only if you treat it like the powerful, unfiltered content firehose it is. Set up Kids Profiles, enable PIN protection, curate watchlists, and co-view with younger kids. Don't just hand over the tablet and hope for the best.
