Riordan’s bread and butter is turning ancient myths into modern headaches. Rebranding the Bermuda Triangle as the Sea of Monsters and putting a Hydra in a donut shop is top-tier world-building.
It’s a middle-grade gold standard. Violence is mythological (monsters turn to dust) and there's no heavy profanity or mature content that would catch a parent off guard.
It’s a stealth education in Greek mythology. Kids come away knowing more about Hermes and Polyphemus than they ever would from a textbook, all while learning about loyalty and identity.
