This is one of those rare apps that's genuinely good for kids—no ads, no microtransactions, just books. It's basically a digital library card that works beautifully.
The catch? Libraries don't discriminate by age in their collections, and neither does this app by default. The kids mode exists but multiple parents report it's not robust enough to prevent access to mature content. So while the app itself is wholesome and enriching, you can't just hand it to a 7-year-old and walk away.
That said, if you're willing to set it up thoughtfully and check in occasionally, this is a fantastic way to get kids reading. The audiobook features are legitimately great, the interface is clean, and having instant access to thousands of books removes the friction that kills reading habits.
Just remember: you're giving them access to the entire library, not just the kids section.
