Mario Strikers is a solid arcade sports romp that was genuinely fun in 2005, but let's be real: it's a 20-year-old GameCube game. The graphics are blocky, the gameplay is simple, and most families don't even have the console anymore.
If you happen to have a GameCube gathering dust, this is a decent local multiplayer option with zero modern gaming concerns—no ads, no chat, no microtransactions. The cartoon violence is mild (think Mario Kart items but with soccer tackles), and the chaos is age-appropriate slapstick.
But unless your kid is into retro gaming or you're feeling nostalgic, there are better Mario sports titles available now (Mario Strikers: Battle League on Switch, for instance). This one's fine if you've got it, but not worth hunting down in 2025.
