This should have been a slam dunk. Take America's most beloved quiz show, put it on mobile, let people test their knowledge—what could go wrong?
Turns out: everything. Jeopardy! World Tour takes a trusted brand and buries it under layers of manipulative free-to-play garbage. You're not playing against real people despite what the app suggests—you're playing against bots designed to beat you at strategic moments to encourage purchases. Parent reviews on Common Sense Media are scathing, with multiple people calling for the app to be removed and the developer sued.
The actual trivia content is fine—it's Jeopardy! questions across legitimate categories. If this were a $5 app with straightforward gameplay, it would score in the 70s or 80s. But instead it's a free-to-play nightmare with energy systems, power-ups, artificial difficulty spikes, and constant pressure to spend money.
The Jeopardy! brand deserves so much better than this. If you want trivia for your kids, find literally anything else—a board game, flashcards, or just watch actual Jeopardy! together. This app is a hard pass.
