This is the rare documentary that's both critically beloved AND genuinely watchable for families. Jane Goodall's story is inherently fascinating—a young woman with no formal training heads into the African jungle and changes science forever—and the archival footage is legitimately stunning.

The WISE scores are strong across the board: wholesome role modeling, enriching scientific content, safe viewing with age-appropriate nature scenes, and imaginative in how it sparks curiosity about the natural world. The 98% critic score isn't inflated—this is beautifully made.

The one caveat: it's a real documentary, not a flashy nature show with quick cuts and dramatic music. Kids who love animals and can handle contemplative pacing will be mesmerized.
