iCarly is the TV equivalent of a time capsule you're not sure you should have opened. It was genuinely innovative in 2007—kids making a web show felt fresh and exciting when YouTube was still new. But nearly 20 years later, it's rough. The laugh track is relentless, the humor is broad and silly, and the early-internet references feel ancient.
The bigger issue is Sam's character, who's basically a bully in a blonde wig. Her constant physical and verbal abuse of Freddie is played for laughs, and while it's clearly exaggerated sitcom stuff, it sends weird messages about what counts as friendship. Modern kids (and parents) are more attuned to bullying dynamics, and this doesn't hold up.
That said, it's harmless. No violence, no inappropriate content, just predictable Nickelodeon fare. If your kid stumbles onto it on Paramount+ and enjoys it, fine—but don't expect them to be riveted. Most modern kids will find it boring or corny compared to what's available now. The WISE score reflects that it's safe and has some creative value, but it's dated entertainment that's hard to enthusiastically recommend in 2025.
