Gratitude Soup is a well-intentioned picture book that teaches a genuinely useful emotional skill—pausing to reflect on what you're thankful for. The metaphor of cooking an imaginary soup is sweet, and the book explicitly invites kids to try it themselves.
That said, this is a 2009 self-published title, and it shows. The art is collage-watercolor but feels a bit clunky, the rhyming is workmanlike, and the whole thing reads more like a therapeutic exercise than a story. The 3.7 Amazon rating suggests parents appreciate the intent but find the execution just okay.
If you're looking for a book to introduce gratitude practice, this does the job—but there are probably more engaging, better-crafted options out there. It's fine, not great.
