Let's be crystal clear: Breaking Bad is not for kids. Not for teens. Not for high schoolers who swear they're mature enough. This is one of the greatest television dramas ever made, but it's also one of the most violent, disturbing, and morally complex shows in the medium.
The WISE score is low because this is a Screenwise evaluation for parents looking for content for their families, and Breaking Bad is emphatically not that. It's brilliant television—the writing, acting, and cinematography are exceptional. But it's also a show about a man who poisons a child, dissolves bodies in acid, and becomes a murderous drug kingpin.
If you're an adult who wants to watch prestige drama, go for it. If your college-age kid wants to watch it, that's between you and them. But if you're looking for family viewing or anything remotely appropriate for minors, keep scrolling. The fact that it has a kids mode available on some platforms is almost darkly funny—there is no universe in which Breaking Bad belongs in kids mode.
