Hey! EarBuds founder Arielle Nissenblatt🎧 here with a note about a new show I’m working on…
Introducing… In The Zone: Understanding Big Feelings for Kids
A new musical podcast for preschoolers and early elementary listeners has landed! In the Zone: Understanding Big Feelings for Kids introduces us to Leon, a chameleon whose colors change with his emotions. When Leon has a big feeling, the magical Zone Center changes with him: he turns red for frustration, blue for sadness, yellow for nervous energy and excitement, and when things calm down… green.
September 8
Guided by the warm and playful Ms. Maya ( Suzanne Jamieson), Leon and his friends Ziggy, Ollie, Lulu, and Nia navigate the kinds of moments young listeners will probably recognize: waiting (impatiently) for something they want, dealing with disappointment, facing fears, and expressing gratitude. ITZ brings those stories to life with original songs, imaginative sound design, and plenty of laughs.
Each episode also introduces a “Feelosophy Tool,” a simple strategy that kids can use to recognize a feeling or help their bodies settle down. These tools give families something to talk about and try together after the episode wraps. And the central message of the show is a strong one: every feeling is welcome, and every feeling changes.
Created by award-winning family musician Suzanne Jamieson and co-created and written by Ali de Guzman, In the Zone features voices from Broadway’s Patti Murin, Emmanuel Carter, and Jason Rabinowitz. Rabinowitz, of Little Loud Studios, also brings his music and sound design work to the series.
But, wait! There’s more…
Suzanne and team are also launching a companion podcast, In The Zone Parent Pod.
Each episode brings host Suzanne together with a parenting or child-development expert and a candid mom friend to revisit an episode of the show. The conversation translates the episode’s emotional theme into honest parenting talk, usable language, and one practical tool families can try immediately.
