If you’re coming here because you loved the pastel-colored vibes of the first few Bridgerton stories, be warned: When He Was Wicked is the moodiest sibling in the bunch. It’s the one that swaps the ballroom banter for intense pining and some of the most explicit scenes Julia Quinn has ever written.
It’s a great book—arguably one of the best in the series—but it’s definitely not for kids. It handles topics like grief and the struggle to conceive with a seriousness that might surprise you. For an older teen who is already deep into romance novels, it’s a high-quality pick, but for anyone else, it’s a 'check the spice level' situation.
