Unravel Two is one of those rare games that actually delivers on the promise of cooperative play without being a chaotic button-masher. It's genuinely wholesome—two yarn creatures tied together, literally dependent on each other to progress, solving environmental puzzles in beautiful settings.
The co-op experience is where this shines: you and your kid (or two siblings) have to communicate, coordinate, and problem-solve together. It's not just sitting next to each other mashing buttons—it's actual collaboration. The wordless narrative about connection and perseverance is sweet without being saccharine.
That said, it's not for every kid. The pacing is deliberate, the puzzles can be head-scratchers, and action-oriented kids might find it boring. Single-player mode is functional but loses the magic. And while it's from 2018, it hasn't aged poorly—the art style holds up and the mechanics are timeless.
If you want a game to actually play WITH your kid that models cooperation and won't rot anyone's brain, this is a solid pick. Just know that some puzzles will have you both staring at the screen going 'wait, how...?'
