Look, I’m not going to tell you The Young and the Restless is 'bad'—it’s been on the air since 1973 for a reason. But for a modern kid or teen? This is a hard pass. It’s the visual equivalent of a dusty lace doily. The drama is high, but the stakes feel low because you know everyone will just be back next week with a different haircut and a new spouse.
If your kid is genuinely into high-stakes family drama, there are a dozen modern shows that do this with better writing and faster pacing. Unless they’re watching it ironically with a grandparent, there’s no reason for this to be on their watchlist in 2026.
