The Thundermans is the definition of fine. It's a safe, formulaic Nickelodeon sitcom that wraps standard family sitcom tropes in a superhero costume. Your 8-year-old will probably enjoy it without learning much, and it won't rot their brain—but it won't expand it either.
The 2013-2018 run means it has that dated multi-cam sitcom feel with laugh tracks and broad physical comedy that feels increasingly stale. The Metacritic score of 43 tells you what critics thought: it's mediocre TV designed to fill time slots, not win awards.
If your kid is into superheroes and you need something safe to put on, this works. But there are better options out there that deliver both entertainment and substance. This is background noise that happens to have superpowers.
