Screenwise Verdict

This isn't your typical 'kids on an adventure' story. It’s a brutal, high-IQ thriller that happens to star children. The first volume hits you with a massive twist that shifts the vibe from 'wholesome orphanage' to 'dystopian farm' instantly.

If your kid is into strategy, puzzles, and doesn't mind a bit of gore, they’ll devour this. But if they’re still sleeping with a nightlight, maybe hold off. It’s one of the best manga series of the last decade, but it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.

Age Fit

Best for 12 and up. The themes of mortality and the visual gore are a lot for anyone younger, but for teens, the intellectual depth and high-stakes plotting are a huge draw.
