Let's be clear: if you see 'The Princess' in the title and think 'oh, a fun princess movie for the family,' you're in for a rude awakening. This is a violent action movie that happens to star a princess, not a princess movie with some action.

The concept is interesting - a capable princess who refuses to be a victim and fights her way out of a tower to save her kingdom. Girl power, right? But the execution is relentlessly brutal, with 94 minutes of fight sequences, people being thrown off towers, and general carnage that would make John Wick nod approvingly.

And here's the kicker: even if you're fine with the violence for your older teen, the movie itself isn't very good. A 44% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and 2.5/5 on Letterboxd tells you this isn't some hidden gem - it's a mediocre action flick that doesn't quite work.

For the right older teen (16+) who loves action movies and gets what they're signing up for, it might be a fun mindless watch. But for most families, this is a hard pass.
