The Only Living Pickpocket in New York is an adult crime drama firing on all cylinders, landing a 98% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 81 on Metacritic. It takes a great, grounded premise—what happens to an old-school street pickpocket when New York goes cashless and every stolen credit card is bricked before he hits the corner—and turns it into a tight race-against-the-clock thriller.
This is a movie-night pick for parents and older teens, not a family four-quadrant watch. Between the stress of Harry caring for his disabled wife Rosie on diminishing returns and the vengeful crime family hunting him down over a fenced USB drive, the stakes are heavy and decidedly grown-up. If your high schooler is into gritty, character-first thrillers, watching this together is an easy win.
