Here's the thing: this is an important story that deserves to be told. The Czech resistance fighters who assassinated Reinhard Heydrich—literally one of the most evil men in history—showed incredible courage, and the aftermath was devastating.
But importance doesn't equal watchability. The mixed audience reception (47% RT, 6.4 IMDb) tells you what you need to know: this is a slog. It's brutal, unrelenting, and doesn't offer much beyond 'Nazis were evil and resistance was costly'—which, yes, but you probably already knew that.
For mature teens studying WWII or adults who specifically want to learn about Operation Anthropoid, there's value here. But don't mistake this for compelling cinema. It's more like eating your historical vegetables—nutritious but not exactly delicious. The violence is graphic enough that even 17-year-olds should think twice, and honestly, reading about this operation might be more enriching and less traumatizing than watching this particular film version.
