The Fall is a top-tier crime drama, but it is deeply grim. It doesn't rely on jump scares; instead, it builds a suffocating sense of dread by showing you exactly who the monster is and how easily he blends into normal life. Gillian Anderson delivers one of her best performances here as a detective who is as fascinating as the man she's hunting.
For parents, this is purely personal entertainment. It is not something to 'co-watch' with teens unless they are older and you've pre-vetted the heavy themes of sexual violence. It's brilliant, but it stays with you in a way that might make you want to double-check your locks before bed.
