If you’re expecting the head-spinning, pea-soup-spitting nostalgia of the original, you’re in the wrong theater. This 2025 version of The Exorcist is a brutal, muddy, and deeply weird historical horror that feels more like a Viking saga than a religious thriller. It’s well-made, but it’s also mean-spirited and incredibly violent.
For parents, this is a hard 'no' for family night. It’s the kind of movie that stays with you in the wrong way if you aren't prepared for the level of ritualistic gore. It’s an interesting creative swing for the franchise, but it’s definitely not for the faint of heart or the young.
