Is there a 'clean' version of the podcast for car rides?

No. The hosts are comedians who use natural, often explicit language. There is no edited version, so keep the volume down or the headphones on if children are present.

Do I need to start from the first episode?

Not necessarily, but the show has a lot of 'lore' and recurring jokes (like the 'Let Us Live' motto). Starting from a recent episode is fine, but you might find yourself going back to understand the inside jokes.

Is this show only for moms?

While the hosts talk a lot about motherhood, the core themes of friendship, aging, and navigating a chaotic world are relatable to almost any adult woman.

How long are the episodes?

Episodes typically run between 45 and 75 minutes, making them perfect for a long commute or a dedicated chore session.

Screenwise Verdict

The Deep Dive is the audio equivalent of a long, slightly wine-fueled dinner with your funniest, most supportive friends. Jessica St. Clair and June Diane Raphael have zero interest in being 'perfect' parents or professionals, and that's exactly why it works. It’s a masterclass in female friendship and a necessary pressure valve for anyone feeling the weight of adult responsibilities.

Don't bother trying to share this with the kids. They won't get the jokes, and you probably don't want them repeating the colorful language Jessica uses when she’s describing her latest Amazon purchase or a traumatic trip to the grocery store. Keep this one for your solo commute or when you’re folding laundry and need to remember that you’re a person, not just a snack-dispenser.

Age Fit

This is strictly for the grown-ups. While there is nothing 'dangerous' here, the language is explicit and the subject matter—skincare routines, grief, and the logistics of motherhood—is designed for adults.

WISE Breakdown

Wholesome

The core of the show is a rock-solid, supportive female friendship that models vulnerability and finding joy in the mess of life. It is emotionally healthy, though the language and topics are strictly adult-oriented.

Imaginative

It is a standard conversational talk format. While the hosts are creatively gifted comedians, the podcast itself doesn't push the boundaries of the medium or invite world-building.

Safe

This is an adult podcast. Expect frequent swearing and frank discussions about grief, loss, and adult relationships. It is not 'clean' for kids to overhear in the car.

Enriching

For its intended audience (adults/parents), it is highly enriching for mental health and community-building. It validates the struggles of modern motherhood and offers genuine empathy.

Why It Might Be Great

Genuine chemistry between two real-life best friends that makes you feel like you're part of the inner circle.
Radical honesty about the harder parts of life, including grief and the crushing mental load of parenting.
Hilarious detours into mundane obsessions like skincare, organization, and why checking voicemail is a bridge too far.
Community vibes through the 'Deep Divers'—a listener base that celebrates the motto 'Let Us Live!'

⚠

What to Watch For

Frequent swearing makes this a headphones-only listen if the kids are within earshot.
Heavy topics like the death of parents or navigating loss are woven into the comedy, which might be a surprise if you're just looking for light banter.
Niche adult concerns like the specificities of suburban motherhood mean your kids will find this incredibly boring.

Conversation Starters

"What's one mundane task you've completely 'opted out' of lately?"
"Who is the friend you can talk to about absolutely anything, no matter how weird?"
"How do you balance the 'insanity' of family life with your own need for joy?"

Deep Dive

The 'Let Us Live' Philosophy

In a media landscape crowded with parenting advice that feels like a homework assignment, The Deep Dive is a breath of fresh, albeit caffeinated, air. Jessica St. Clair and June Diane Raphael aren't here to tell you how to sleep train or which wooden toys are the most educational. Instead, they’re diving into the visceral, often hilarious reality of being a woman in her 40s.

The show is at its best when it leans into the 'Deep Dive' of it all—the granular, obsessive discussions about the perfect eye cream or the psychological trauma of an unorganized junk drawer. But it’s the show's willingness to sit in the dark moments that gives it real weight. When they talk about loss or the fear of failing their families, it feels earned and authentic.

For Screenwise parents, this is a top-tier recommendation for self-care through media. It’s a reminder that maintaining your own identity and friendships is a vital part of being a healthy parent. Just ensure your Bluetooth hasn't accidentally connected to the car speakers while the kids are in the back seat—the 'F-bombs' fly fast and frequent, and while they are always well-placed for comedic effect, they aren't exactly preschool-approved.
