Let's be real: The Aristocats is a relic. It's got that classic Disney charm and it's genuinely gentle enough for preschoolers, but it's also got some seriously problematic racist caricatures that Disney has since acknowledged and tried to contextualize (but not remove). The Siamese cat playing piano with chopsticks while singing in mock-Asian accent is just... yikes.
Beyond the stereotyping issue, this is also just kind of boring by modern standards. The pacing is glacial, the villain is barely a threat, and the plot is paper-thin. Your 5-year-old might enjoy the singing cats, but your 8-year-old will be asking if they can watch something else.
If you're looking for classic Disney that holds up better, try The Lion King or even Aristocats' spiritual successor, Oliver & Company (1988). This one's skippable unless you're on a 'watch every Disney movie' quest or feeling very nostalgic. And if you do watch it, be prepared to have a conversation about why that Siamese cat character is not okay.
