Splendor: Marvel is that rare gateway game that actually delivers on its promise: simple enough to teach in five minutes, deep enough that everyone stays engaged, and fast enough that nobody's checking their phone halfway through.

The Marvel skin isn't just slapped on—the Infinity Stones create a thematic win condition that feels right. And those poker-chip-style gem tokens? They're weirdly satisfying to handle. Multiple reviews mention the tactile pleasure, which matters more than you'd think for keeping kids engaged.

The real magic is how it sneaks strategic thinking into a 30-minute package. Kids are learning resource management and forward planning without realizing they're being educated. And unlike many 'family' games, adults won't be hate-playing this one.

If you already own regular Splendor, this is a harder sell unless you're Marvel-obsessed. But as a standalone? It's a solid addition to any family game shelf that'll actually get played, not collect dust.
