This is exactly what Disney Plus nature docs do well: take an adorable animal, follow its journey, and sneak in some actual learning. It's not going to blow anyone's mind, but it's a solid, wholesome option for a family movie night when you want something that won't rot brains.
The 7.4 IMDb rating is respectable for a nature doc, and the Common Sense age of 5 suggests it's gentle enough for younger viewers. The mother-pup storyline gives it emotional stakes beyond just "look at pretty animals," which helps.
That said, this is a 2025 release with very limited review data, so we're working with less certainty than usual. The score reflects what we know about Disney's nature doc track record and the available signals, but this could be either better or more forgettable than the numbers suggest. If your kid is into sea lions or you're planning a Galapagos unit study, this is a no-brainer. Otherwise, it's a perfectly fine but not essential watch.
