Screenwise Verdict

Ryan George is that rare YouTube find: genuinely clever, totally clean, and actually educational in a sneaky way. The Pitch Meeting format has become iconic for good reason—it's funny, it's smart, and it teaches kids (and adults) to think critically about the stories they consume.

The biggest consideration is context. A 10-year-old who loves Marvel movies will absolutely crack up at the MCU Pitch Meetings, but they need to have seen the films first or it's just spoilers. And yes, it's YouTube, which means even the best content comes with the platform's attention-economy baggage.

But if you're going to let your kids watch YouTube anyway? This is about as good as it gets. George has built a massive following without resorting to clickbait thumbnails, screaming, or manufactured drama. It's just a guy, talking to himself, making smart observations about movie absurdities. Wholesome? Check. Funny? Absolutely. Worth watching? Super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Age Fit

Best for ages 10-99—kids need enough movie-watching experience to recognize the films being discussed and appreciate the meta-humor. Younger kids won't get the references, but there's nothing inappropriate if they stumble across it.

WISE Breakdown

Wholesome

Clean, clever comedy that relies on wordplay, absurd observations, and self-aware humor rather than crude jokes or put-downs. George's signature 'talking to himself' format is genuinely wholesome—he plays multiple characters having conversations, often pointing out plot holes or societal absurdities in a way that's silly without being mean-spirited. No profanity, no cruelty, just a guy making funny observations about movies and life.

Imaginative

The Pitch Meeting format is genuinely creative—reimagining how movies got greenlit by having a screenwriter pitch increasingly ridiculous plot points to a producer. His personal channel videos show strong comedic writing and the multi-character format requires viewers to follow quick perspective shifts. However, it's commentary rather than world-building, so while clever and original, it's not sparking the same kind of imaginative play that narrative content might.

Safe

Extremely safe content. No violence, no sexual content, no profanity, no disturbing themes. Comments are enabled but the audience skews older and the content doesn't attract toxic communities. The Plugged In review confirms 'no language concerns' and family-friendly content. Biggest 'risk' is that kids might get exposed to spoilers for movies they haven't seen yet, but that's hardly a safety concern.

Enriching

Pitch Meetings teach critical media literacy—kids learn to spot plot holes, recognize tropes, and think analytically about storytelling. It's genuinely educational for understanding narrative structure and Hollywood conventions. However, it's primarily entertainment rather than deep enrichment. The humor is accessible but doesn't necessarily build skills or offer profound insights beyond 'hey, that movie logic doesn't make sense.' Still, media literacy is valuable.

⚠

What to Watch For

Kids need to have seen the movies being discussed to get the jokes—watching Pitch Meetings before the actual films spoils major plot points
It's still YouTube, which means autoplay will try to pull viewers into an endless scroll of content
Some videos discuss PG-13 or R-rated movies, though George keeps his commentary clean even when the source material isn't
The format is repetitive by design—some kids will find it hilarious, others might get bored of the same structure

Conversation Starters

"What plot holes have you noticed in movies we've watched together? Do they bother you or are they easy to ignore?"
"Why do you think movies sometimes have things that don't make sense? Is it lazy writing or are we being too picky?"
"If you were pitching a movie to a producer, what would your story be? What questions would they ask you?"
