Rune Factory 5 is the 'everything bagel' of cozy gaming. It tries to be a farming sim, a dating sim, and an action RPG all at once. It mostly succeeds, though it's definitely rougher around the edges than its predecessor, Rune Factory 4 Special.
For a kid who has already exhausted Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley and wants a bit more 'edge' (read: hitting dragons with a sword), this is a solid pick. It's a massive time sink, but a wholesome one that encourages being a good neighbor as much as it does being a powerful warrior.
