If your high schooler is diving into classic cinema or studying the history of horror, Rosemary's Baby remains an extraordinary piece of filmmaking. It built the playbook for modern psychological horror, taking the mundane anxiety of moving into a new apartment and starting a family and escalating it into pure nightmare territory.
That said, this is adult material. The core plot revolves around a woman being drugged by her husband, sexually assaulted by a demonic presence, and systematically isolated while her body changes against her will. It contains vintage non-sexual full-frontal nudity and deep psychological cruelty.
For a mature 16 or 17-year-old interested in film construction, sound design, and tension building, it is a masterclass. For anyone younger, skip it until they are older.
