Role Play attempts to dust off the premise made famous by True Lies and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, pairing suburban family life with international assassination. Kaley Cuoco plays Emma, a New Jersey mom hiding a high-paying hitwoman career from her clueless husband David. When the pair decide to meet at a high-end hotel under fake personas to kickstart their marriage, her two worlds collide in predictable fashion.

While Cuoco and Oyelowo work hard to sell the marital tension, the film lacks the sharp comedy or inventive set pieces required to lift it above standard streaming noise. The action scenes feel familiar, and the plot turns clear long before they land.

For families, this is an easy skip. Between the body count, the hotel pickup setups, and constant swearing, it is purely an adult movie night candidate. Even then, weak reviews on Rotten Tomatoes accurately reflect a film that drops into the background faster than it builds real tension.
