If your kid is a 'Last Dragon Chronicles' superfan, this is a no-brainer. It’s basically the DVD extras of the book world.

It’s not a standalone read—don't buy this for a kid who hasn't read the series—but for the initiated, it’s a goldmine of lore and writing tips. It’s wholesome, smart, and gives them a reason to put down the tablet and flip through some actual pages to find 'secrets.'

It’s a bit dated now (2012), but dragon lore doesn't really go out of style, and for a kid deep in a d'Lacey phase, it’s essential equipment.
