Prep is essentially the 'anti-Gossip Girl.' It’s not about clothes or parties; it’s about the crushing weight of trying to figure out who you are when everyone around you seems to have a head start.
It was a massive hit in 2005 for a reason—it’s incredibly well-written and avoids all the usual cliches of the genre. If you have an older teen who feels like a bit of a wallflower or an outsider, this will likely hit home. Just know that it’s a 'real' book with real adult content, so maybe save it for the high schoolers rather than the middle school crowd.
