Let's be honest: this movie is a mess. Critics universally panned it as a derivative, poorly-executed revenge fantasy that wastes Jennifer Garner's commitment to the role. The 13% Rotten Tomatoes critic score and 29 Metacritic aren't flukes—this is a paint-by-numbers vigilante film that brings nothing new to an already tired genre.
The violence is graphic and brutal, including the on-screen murder of a child, making it deeply inappropriate for anyone under 17. Even for adults, the question is: why watch this when better revenge thrillers exist?
The audience score is higher (70%) because some viewers just want to see bad guys get killed and don't care about craft or originality. That's valid, but it doesn't make this a good movie. If you're looking for cathartic violence, John Wick does it better. If you want thoughtful exploration of grief and justice, literally dozens of other films exist.
This is a hard pass for families and a 'meh, if you're really bored' for adults who love the genre.
