Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett reunite for a hard-R science fiction thriller that plays like a heavily armed version of a classic John Carpenter flick. Adria Arjona leads as a former sniper defending her young daughter against a squad of escaped super-soldiers. It is lean, loud, and thoroughly violent.
From a family standpoint, this is an adult popcorn movie, plain and simple. The film combines graphic body horror, explicit drug use (including an extended sequence involving MDMA), nudity in a strip club setting, and non-stop emotional stress surrounding a child in mortal danger.
If you have older teens (17+) who enjoy pulpy sci-fi thrillers, it serves up fast-paced, violent entertainment. For anyone younger, skip it.
