Look, it’s the GOAT of science books, but that doesn't make it a page-turner. If you have a kid who is obsessed with biology, this is their Bible. For everyone else, it’s a heavy, academic slog that might be better experienced through a great documentary or a modern summary.
That said, there is something powerful about touching the primary source. If you’re going to do it, don't feel like you have to read every word of the 1859 original. Skim the dense parts, focus on the 'Recapitulation and Conclusion' chapter, and treat it like a historical artifact rather than a beach read.
