Let's be clear: this is not family movie night material. Olympus Has Fallen is a competently made but ultimately forgettable action thriller that takes the Die Hard formula and drenches it in graphic violence.
The critics gave it a lukewarm 49% on Rotten Tomatoes because, well, it's exactly what you expect—no more, no less. Gerard Butler punches and stabs his way through the White House while rescuing the president. It's loud, violent, and pretty shallow.
For adults who want to zone out with some mindless action? Fine. But this absolutely should not be on anyone's radar for family viewing or even mature teens. The violence is genuinely brutal and the Common Sense Media 18+ rating is spot-on. There are far better action movies that deliver thrills without quite this level of graphic content.
Bottom line: if you're looking for something enriching, imaginative, or remotely appropriate for anyone under voting age, keep scrolling.
