Nim's Island is a breath of fresh air. In a world of 'brain rot' content, this story actually encourages kids to think about the physical world, science, and survival.
While the 2008 movie was a bit of a Hollywood cheese-fest, the book remains a solid, empowering read. It doesn't talk down to kids, and Nim is a fantastic model of bravery that doesn't feel forced.
